ACP-Therapy in case of arthrosis and sport injuries

What is ACP-therapy?

The treatment with autologous conditioned plasma (ACP) represents a new treatment procedure for the therapy of joint complaints due to wear off. It has been known for some time that the human blood contains growth factors, which can have positive influence on various healing processes. The ACP-therapy is based on this knowledge.

In case of most injuries of the musculoskeletal system, the ligaments and tendons, but also in case of muscle injuries or tendon inflammations the healing process can be supported by ACP. Also a lot of sport injuries of the joints themselves can be treated more effectively with ACP.

How does it function?

  1. Blood sampling from the arm vein
  2. Separation process for the extraction of body-own substances in concentrated     form
  3. Injection of the body-own substances into the affected region

A small volume of blood is extracted from the arm vein like for a blood analysis. Via a specific separation process the part of the blood is extracted, which contains body-own regenerative components inhibiting arthrosis.

The body-own solution extracted this way will be injected into the affected joint. This happens via a specifically developed double syringe. This newly developed double chamber system ensures the sterile extraction and sterile injection of the growth factors and offers the maximum possible security this way.

When is the ACP-therapy applied?

  • In case of light or medium arthrosis and tendon pains
  • After cartilage surgeries like micro-fracturing
  • After surgeries of tendons, after cruciate ligament -, Achilles tendon- or rotator cuff injuries
  • Cartilage damages degree 1-3 of large or small joints of the extremities and of the facet joints
  • Freshly torn muscle fibers, meniscus injuries and tendon injuries
  • Ruptures and partial ruptures of ligaments like for example of the external ligament of the ankle joint
  • Chronic tendon inflammations (tennis elbow, Achilles tendon, patella tendon)

How does the healing process proceed?

The healing process of an injured tissue passes a complex and precisely regulated series of body-own processes. Proteins in the blood are responsible for the regulation, many of them are released from the blood platelets, the thrombocytes.

The thrombocytes are permanently part of the human blood and are activated after an injury. They are then able to release growth factors in the area of the injury. This is the beginning of the healing process.
