Shockwave therapy

What is the shockwave therapy?

Shockwaves with high energy are transmitted into the tissue via the surface of the skin. The body's own self-healing powers inside the pain zones are activated. This way the metabolic activity is increased due to a stronger blood circulation and the formation of blood vessels.

How does it function?

Normally it extends over one to three sessions of approx. five to ten minutes during which the shockwaves are transmitted into the pain zones.

Prior to the treatment the doctor will identify the pain zone via a simple hands-on examination, afterwards the schockwave applicator will be stroked along the pain zones.

When is the shockwave therapy used?

  • Painful irritations of the tendon insertions due to overload or incorrect loading or degenerative processes

           - Shoulder calcification (tendinosis calcarea of the infra- and supraspinatus

             tendon)

           - tennis elbow (epicondylitis humeri radialis)

           - golfer’s elbow (epicondylitis humeri ulnaris)

           - calcaneal spur (plantar calcaneal tendoperiostose)

           - achillodynia

           - patella tip syndrome

           - tibiakantensyndrome

  • Acute and chronic pains

How does the healing process proceed?

The healing process is stimulated and fastened via cell regeneration.
